Put on your thinking caps.
When it is your turn to be the Strudeler, you tell the dealer which deck of cards you will play:
One has seven-letter words (two points per hidden word found); the other has five-letter words (one point per hidden word found).
After the Strudeler, every other player (other than the dealer) has a chance to play the card in turn and earn points, earning points for finding the hidden word(s) that eluded everyone else. It is up to the dealer to choose which of the words on the card will be displayed.
You are given a personal timer that runs whenever it is your turn to look for hidden words on a card. Once your timer runs out, you cannot earn any more points during the game. You win by being the first person to reach the “Finish” position on your personal score card. Or, you can win by having the most points when everyone’s timer has run out.
But there is a trap – in the form of Strudel cards. These cards have no hidden words!
How much of your precious time will you spend in trying to find hidden words that aren’t there? Or will you take a chance and claim the card is a Strudel card. If you’re wrong, you are assessed penalty points and your turn with that card is over. But if you’re right, you will leap ahead on your score card.
